Day #1 is in the books and it went well beginning with the weather. It was overcast and we did not have to deal with any oppressive heat on this first day. It allowed our team to focus and get the work done that we needed to accomplish. Today, was a day for us to get some practice time in, put the campers through a brief drill or two to whet their appetites for Friday, Saturday, and Monday. They enjoyed learning the Chill Drill.
We had two players give a challenge to the campers with Missionary Bob Mach interpreting the message of the gospel. All the young people go through a Bible lesson a couple of times a month during their practices, yet many have still to trust Christ as Savior. Tomorrow, we break down into some smaller groups and three of our players (Trevor, Colin, and Malachi) will teach about sin (anything we say, think, or do that disobeys God’s Law or displeases Him).
We have a full morning of basketball skills for the campers to work on as well, from ballhandling, shooting, defense, decision making, and a couple of competitions.
